tuesdays swim

i made it in for a swim on tuesday. the sun was just coming up, it was playing on the surface of the water. I was unable to to the full mile, but i did increase my number of laps a little more. i got a little more than a quarter mile. i did enjoy the sauna, the dry heat was nice, and cut down on the soreness.

Returning to the Y

I finally made it back to the y today for a swim. i was unable to do as much as before, but hope to build back endurance and lung capacity. as long as i am moving forward, and making progress, i feel good. i think that I will add a layer to the morning workouts, and do a full strength training session first, tomorrow, followed by a steam, followed by a swim, and then a nice session in the sauna. I couldn’t deal with the sauna or steam room today, i was still coughing too much. but i am confident that tomorrow will the be right time.

starting to add some strength training is the next logical step, I am very excited….

I swam this morning despite yesterday’s Wednesdays hellish migraine attack. I was afraid to swim on Thursday morning, considering the fact that I could feel my heartbeat behind my neck and I couldn’t see very well.

Wednesday I developed a migraine after accidentally eating food that had casein in it (allergic) and it beat the heck out of me all day. I didn’t stop working, and I didn’t stop thinking about work, until I was able to fall asleep. Thursday the alarm went off at 5:30 but I couldn’t overcome the pain enough to stand up for a long time. I wanted to swim so badly. But I promised myself that I wouldn’t stop swimming, so this morning I got up and got moving even though I took one day off.

Getting better every day…

Swimming is really healing me in ways I needed. I feel so much better. I spoke to my doctor about weight loss, and he suggested for me a 1000 calorie diet. I should be able to drop 18 pounds in about 1 month on this plan, which will probably accelerate if I add strength training to the mix. Right now, I am just focused on the swimming and cardio, and not letting stress get me. I am checking my heart rate at intervals during the day, and at the worst it’s about 120 when I get upset. So the second thing I need to work on is calming down and relaxing.

Third Day at the Y

This day was much better. I have to get better goggles, mine broke today. Cheap plastic crap. I dropped to half a mile, but I feel better about it than yesterdays 3/4 of a mile, because my lung capacity is increasing already, I can feel it.

Work seems to be going better, I think easier and concepts come faster, which is really important in my profession. I am on the way to a little bit of all right.

Thank You, Kate…

My good friend Kate encouraged me to start this workout blog. She is a very inspirational person. I have learned a lot from her, even though she is much younger than I. Case in point, I have another reason to get up before the sun rises and go swimming, this blog will keep me on the straight and narrow path.

Swam at the Y

For the second time. This time, much better. No ear pain (thanks to plugs and a swim cap). I was sure that I could do better, and I will eventually be at the level that I once was, but for now, slow and steady building strength and cardiovascular.

This is my training blog which I am using to keep track of my fitness progress.

Please come by and read my blog. I will help me stay motivated and keep me on track as I achieve my fitness goals!

I’m a woman from NYC USA, born in 1971.

My goals are: Swim more, run more, and get back into shape.

My other favorite activities include: Bowling.

I sit at a desk and get cerebral a lot of the day. I am starting to feel immobilized by my own schedule. I need to get it together…
